College students
have lost the meaning that God has on our lives, students seem to have better
things to do instead of attending to church on Sundays morning or even at
evenings. There is always an excuse that will work perfectly. There is only one
time that we all go to church and that is when we feel that we’re on trouble or
that we really need to feel that god is still there
According to a questioner
around Pima college it seem that, students about the age of twenty through
twenty-five don’t really care about religion if isn’t of a class at Pima. They
said that they have a lot of homework to do and that they have other things
more important while they are attending to college. “Pima students have a
really hard and tire life. Most students have to travel from one campus to
another. It seems easy but isn’t easy”, said Manuel Lopez, who is studying at
Pima.
“I’m a full time
student and at the end I get home with a bunch of homework and besides I have
to do my own laundry, cook and clean my apartment”, he said. “Who is going to
have time for church having to do all sort of thing, I don’t have time for a
girlfriend either”. Lopez said.
“When I was 8 my
mom used to force me to go and I hated waking up on Sunday mornings because I
prefer staying home playing video games or watching movies. Now that I’m away
from home I feel free because I can do whatever I want with nobody forcing me
to go where I don’t want to.” Lopez said.
“Life is too short
and in my opinion I see it in a way that we should live it how it comes. I
prefer drinking and having a good weekend with my friends than wasting my days
attending to a place where people say that there’s a God that loves me.” Lopez said.
“I
don’t care if they those church people say that if I do bad things I’ll go to
hell instead of heaven. I want to live my life in my own way if someday I need
God or to go to church I’ll do it but not because someone told m e to do it,
I’ll do it because I feel the necessity of doing it. I have a good job and I’m
almost done with school my life it’s just perfect I don’t have to change
anything”. Lopez said.
Different students
around Pima have different opinion about God some of them said that they are
thankful for having him with them. But how come they don’t go to church?
God is everywhere
and he will listen to our prayer even if we were on a place where there is
nothing, like in the middle of the dessert, or on a hospital where there is no
hope.
“Having or not
having a religion is something that we can decide when we grow up but most of
us don’t even care, we just think that having fun and doing the usual thing
we’ll be saved. I’m not trying to say that we have to follow the same religion
or beliefs that our parents followed. What I’m trying to do is let everyone
know that no matter what we did or who we are there will always be a God that
will forgive all our mistakes and that will take us through the good way. A
religion in a way is sort of a configuration of beliefs that we the humans
have.”
Christianity has
been the only religion that can take you back into history and you can see all
the connections with all the characters from the bible. Lopez said.
“I have a lot of
confident with myself I can talk with God and feel that he’s always by my side,
no one said that it was easy there always bad things happening and people that
will disagree with your own decisions including your own family. It was really
sad that the first persons to judge me for the things I was doing were my
parents. But I really don’t care more
because I know that I’m not doing nothing wrong I feel happy doing what I’ve
been doing and at the end my family will understand and some day they will be
the ones that will wake me up to go to church; besides I have heard so many
things about pastors and people from church that they raped little girls and
things like that. The church has change and so the people. I seriously don’t
care about being part of a lie. A lie because it’s the way I felt when I listen
to the news. Years ago there was this big news about this guy from a catholic
church who left church because he falls in love with some girl. Honestly I
don’t want that in my life those are lies.” Lopez said.
“I know that some
people might think that it’s wrong to change the religion in which you were
born but I couldn’t handle it; I wanted to feel safe and most of all I wanted
to follow God the one and only who deserves all our time “Jams said.
“At my house there
was never time for church none of my parents were there to push me to go to
church. It was until my friend Tommy invited me, how could I say no thanks I have other plans?
I prefer going to church than going with my friends to the park and play
soccer, at the beginning I wasn’t sure if I suppose to go or if I should go to
the park.” Jams said.
Jams who was Jehovah’s
Witnesses decide to change his religion to the Christian because he wasn’t happy
with his own they have different bibles that are similar but the Christian bible
is more trustful for him.
“Well, I just think
about it and decide that I was going to attend to church it was just a Sunday
that I was going to do something different. I did think about it because of my
family they don’t like going to church and I was the only one that start attending.
The problem wasn’t attending; the problem was the religion. I was born catholic
and now I was changing everything. I was attending to a Christian church, and
it does feel kind of weird that your family says things about what you’re
becoming. The moment that I step into the church it was pretty cool, everyone
was giving me a warm welcome and being all nice, a thing that at my regular
church no one would do. You’re asking me if I like it and yeah I really enjoy
my first day at this church it was awesome. I have an incredible time there.” Jams
said.
“My whole life has
been changing since the first time I started attending. I passed through many
things and beautiful moments. I have cry in so many moments and I felt so close
to God that it makes me feel that being by his side nobody can stop me of doing
what I really like to do. At the beginning I was thinking that my parents were
right and that I was just happy because people not from my family were there
because they really care for me and they become to love me just the way I am. Jams
said.
This was jams
testimony of how he changes his own religion or what his family say that was a
religion. This is one of some other cases that we don’t know or we do but as
jams parents we judge tem wrong. We have forgotten that we live in a country
that it’s free. We all have the freedom of choosing what we want, and in what
we believe.
This is one part of a
problem that some college students are going through but as Jams and Lopez said
there are hard decisions that only one person can decide. No one else can
choose in your life or your religion. It’s your own decision and it’s the way
you feel better, some of us feel better by not going and others by going it is
just a decision that you make in your life for the one that gave his life for
you and everybody else. No matter if you’re the best person on the whole world
or the meanest one. God will be there for you n matter what you have done in
your life.
He was born being
catholic but with the time he find out that the things he read on the bible
wasn’t the same things that he was been teach at church. There are a lot of
things that god doesn’t like the ones that known him through the bible know
that he is really jealous and that he doesn’t like us to be praying to any kind
of images.
“My family was
involved in church but when we start attending to the Christian church
everything was different. I felt sort of knowing what I was missing I felt that
now I was meeting the real God. My family and my wife are happy having God in
their life. As I always say I’m not going to forced them to stay in this church
or in this religion. When they have the age to decide for themselves I will not
judge tem or tell them not to do this or that; it is easy to love God. I feel
that my whole family will take the right decision and they will stay in God’s
side.” Salomon who is a predicator in a Christian church said.
“I have read the whole
bible from beginning to end more than one time and the more times I read I
learn something different. I have taught students about God and they have
decided that they want god in their lives and now they are here baptism and
doing the right thing. We have to see god as a good friend, as a father that
cares for you and loves you no matter what. He forgives and helps you when you
need him. When you’re taking a hard test and you study so hard but on the
moment you don’t remember nothing just ask him to help you remember and he
will. “ Salomon said.
“For me wasn’t as hard
as some of you guys that have live different situations, what I recommend to
you guys is to believe with all your heart and follow god with all your heart.
I’m not saying that it’s going to be easy, but if you really want a big change
and most of all if you really want to go to heaven you should try it, I bet you
that you’ll not regret of choosing God.” Salomon said.
Students should get to know god because you
guys are facing situations that are putting you guys between what’s right and
wrong. God test’s all of you guys but he never puts a test on you that he knows
that it’s going to be hard that you’ll fail. There were some moments in my life
that when everything was alright there will always come something negative but
I always fight against those things because like god exists the devil exists
too. The devil is always there looking for an opportunity to pull you down.
The only advice that I
can give you and all those college students is to follow what you believe and
always thinking twice because in some situations you might act and not do what
you really want. In my life as in others that follow god things will change and
you’ll think that everything its going wrong and you’ll think about giving up.
And that’s the worst think you could do.
It is up to the
students and their volunteer if there want to be close to god or if they decide
they want to continue without knowing him. Things happened for a reason and
some day you’ll need god so much that you’ll end believing on him and begging
him for something. You decide.
